Our family was all together for a few hours on Friday afternoon. After much arm twisting, pouting, and complaining, I was able to con this picture out of my sister, Heidi. It was taken at the luncheon after my Great Aunt Ethel's funeral.

More Kekoaisms
#1 Scenario:
A couple of days ago I was talking to Kekoa about going to Grandpa and Grammy's farm.
Me: Guess who we're going to see there?
Kekoa: (with eyebrows raised) Aunt HIGH-dee!
Me: Yes, and Uncle Shawn, and Aunt Koral, and Cousin Lincoln...
Kekoa: And Uncle Ryan?
Me: Yep... Uncle Ryan will be there.
(brief pause in conversation)
Kekoa: (cocks his head) Does Uncle Ryan have a kid?
Is there something your not telling us, Uncle Ryan?
#2 Scenario:
Grandpa is throwing a nerf football at Kekoa.
Kekoa: Grandpa, STOP it.
Grandpa: Why? What's the matter?
Kekoa: Because it makes me not happy.

animal (teddy bear and caterpillar) pancakes on Old MacDonald plates at a "just my size" table...
and presents - hooded towels (Lightning McQueen! and Thomas the Tank Engine!) for bath time.

Solution
It's always interesting to me to hear Kekoa's vocabulary expanding... to hear him learn new words and try them out in sentences. To see his mind making language connections. On Sunday, he heard me use the word "solution" in a conversation I was having with Craig while traveling in the car. "Solution," I hear him repeat from his carseat. Then, "Curious George says that. In the movie. He says solution on the phone." So, not only did he learn/say a new word, but he made a mental connection to where he'd heard the word used before - in the movie, Curious George. For the record, I'm thinking it was probably The Man in the Yellow Hat that used the word solution on the phone, not Curious George.
First Dentist Visit
The boys have been getting up CONSISTENTLY at 7:30 a.m. every morning no matter HOW tired they are. No sleeping in during Christmas break for us. And then... on the day we have a dentist appointment at 9:00 a.m. for the whole family, they sleep in. Thus the pajama party at the dentist office this morning. Dr. G checked out the boys teeth this morning, a dry run to see how it went and get them familiar with what it means to go to the dentist. The dental hygienists thought they probably could have gotten away with cleaning Kekoa's teeth today. Gavyn went first because Kekoa wasn't so sure. I guess anxiety levels go down when you're clutching plastic pink ice cream cones in each hand. Dr. G was awesome - just looked in their mouths and counted their teeth. While Kekoa was in the chair, the dental hygienist showed him the equipment complete with a tooth tickler. I was dreading the visit... visualizing screaming hysterics, but it all went amazingly well. They were happy as clams leaving with their new toothbrushes and sticker tattoos. We completed the adventure with a visit to 'Nera Bread (Panera Bread) for breakfast afterwards. I can't argue with that.

Christmas Details

Didn't Santa Get ANYTHING?
Title equals quote of the day - see video for actual version. Quote comes from Kekoa when he discovers there's an empty drawer under the train table. Gasp... the horror... no more presents. Does it look like they need more presents? You don't have to answer that. Robyn explains it well - something to do with it being eight years before we were able to have kids. We tend to go a bit overboard with things sometimes. Gotta work on that one. Check back next year and tell us how we did.
And this just in... Kekoa talking with Cranky the Crane, "Cranky the Crane, could you lift this for me? Great."
