I'm gonna blame it on Craig. The fact that I still don't think of myself in correct life age terms. The fact that I don't act my age. For some reason, I always feel a little bit more "girl" than I do "woman". I like to wear flowers in my hair. I like to wear ruffles and lace. I look at little girls cute outfits and wish they made them in adult sizes so I could wear them, too. I compliment little girls on their adorable sandals or cute boots. Very often in public, little girls I've never met shyly smile and wave - somehow we have our own little special connection. Recently, I had a secret exchange with a little girl peeking out her window in the backseat at me for several stoplights before her car finally got lost in the sea of cars ahead of us.
Somewhere along the way Craig started referring to me as "Lani Girl". I only just noticed last week how much I like it. When will I grow up? Maybe never. I kind of like being Lani Girl.
