Choose Love

"You will never be this loved again.  So on those days when you are feeling stressed out, touched out, and depleted, just remember that you will never be this loved again.  One day you will long for their affection.  So choose a soft voice, choose gentle hands, choose love."  - AK

Baseball 2014 Begins

First baseball practice on the last day of March. And now? The temps have dropped back into the basement. *sigh*  The boys showed up in shorts and short sleeves and it was pretty shivery by the time they left.

Seriously.  How can anything grow when we're still getting below freezing at night? Annoyed.

Time to Shake Things Up

I am heartened. Hit 5.01 miles on a fairly flat course at a 9:10 minute mile. It was 9:08 before I turned into the wind for a quarter of a mile at the end of the run. It can only go down from here, right? And thanks to a good friend for passing along her fancy watch to me so I can now keep track. I don't know why at 40 I've turned into a fair weather runner, but it doesn't bode well for getting any runs in if you live in the midwest.

In other news, I love hanging out with Gavyn. He just asked me, "Mom, did you know there is a shake that makes you lose weight?" I asked him where he heard that and he said, "On the TV. The girl that says it keeps saying, 'Time to shake things up.' So. If you want to lose weight you better start doing that." I guess advertising works after all. At least on an eight year old.

Selfies are Nothing New

See? Selfies are nothing new. It's been a few years... guess how many? We haven't aged a bit.

Celebrating Gavyn's Birthday With the Cousins

The cousins came to The Rib Crib with us, one of our favorites, to help us celebrate Gavyn's birthday.  He was not sad to be celebrating again.

All weekend with cousins?  Yes, please.  And thank you.

Sunday Go to Meetin' Clothes On

Cousins together staying at Uncle Jeff and Aunt Shirley's shop before Deaf Special Meetings 2014.

All tuckered out.

He Adores Her

I'm thinking she'll be able to hold her own.  Either that or she's going to have a lot of protectors.

Yes, Pearl, I know.  All these boys.  I'm sure it's a little bit overwhelming.

Are We There Yet?

Headed to work. Go, Cyclones! I haven't been this excited for a game since... oh... 2000.  Can it be 6:30 already?  Are we there yet?  Feeling ready to show UConn who's boss.  Just a little NCAA basketball tourney funnin'.

UPDATE:  A new star rose tonight. Way to go Hogue boy! Unbelievable game. I think if he could have carried the entire team to the Elite Eight he would have.  He almost did! Fun to see him have such a good game at "home" in front of his family. Can't wait until next year. But sad to see our seniors go. Go, Cyclones!

A Healthier Choice

Gavyn told Craig this morning, "Dad, I think your next job should be a teacher. I think that is a healthier choice." Love that kid.

Throwback Thursday: I kinda like this guy. Taking a look back at these pictures I took of my "officer" a few months back. Only six months left.  Crazy to think he will be officially retired.

Eyes ahead.  Goal is in sight.

Just a Swingin'

A few March's ago... swinging with Aunt Heidi.

This was from this past November - Thanksgiving 2013.  Kekoa's on the right.  Just a few changes.  Time marches on.
