To get myself back into the blogging groove around here, I decided to visit the top (most recent) post of my blogroll and do a copy cat post. So here it is - Daddy's Hands.
Which is nice, because there's lots of really nice things about a Daddy's hands. Here's a few of my favorite Daddy's Hands moments:

That's One Thing
Ok. So I know he's only seven. But he's gotten very "adultish" in his behaviour in the past two weeks. A week from yesterday, I watched him talk with our friend, Patty, after lunch about his snake books from the public library (which reminds me... I need to get those dropped off tonight). He was telling her all the facts and showing her the pictures of snakes and then if he wasn't sure of something, he'd look over at me with a questionable look, eyebrows furrowed and ask things like, "How old was that anaconda we saw again?" And I would say, "25". And then he would look back at her and emphasize (as if it were THE most amazing fact of the day), "Yes, the anaconda was 25 years old!" before continuing on with his self-confident, "informed on the facts" discourse about snakes.
It's interesting to watch him take the lead. It's nice to see him being kind and gentle with others. I find myself pausing a lot these days - my feeble attempt to take in what is happening. What is happening? Time's not stopping. That's one thing.
When he's around his younger cousins, he takes on a very "older brother" type demeanor and leads the charge in whatever direction it happens to be heading. Notice his stance here:
And then here he was on Saturday allowing an attack by his cousins:It's interesting to watch him take the lead. It's nice to see him being kind and gentle with others. I find myself pausing a lot these days - my feeble attempt to take in what is happening. What is happening? Time's not stopping. That's one thing.
